new office space

Friday I just hated my job. I was in this ugly interior office, sitting either in almost total darkness or under a harsh fluorescent light at a temporary desk. The only good thing was i could play tunes because no one esle was around, and if anyone was, I could mostly close the door. The wall had a big hole in the dry wall. It was really gray out that day, and at the end of the day I felt lame. Totally down about my job. So Nathan told me we would get lamps for my office. And promised that when my desk was moved, it would improve. And so it has. It doesn't help that my office mate is out of town for he week, so I get the place to myself. I have four lamps now, two with ultra bright halogen bulbs. They are all rice paper lamps of varying shapes and sizes - a tall Target floor lamp, a hanging lantern lamp, a Dunce-cap shaped Noguchi lamp, freshly repaired with new rice paper patches, and a cute squat cube-shaped Ikea lamp. And I have my lovely buttercup-colored Anthro desk back. Plus I scored a retro-cool chair replete with olive-green upholestry and real wood. And a government-chic gray metal and glass bookcase. So all is much better. Oh, and I patched the dry wall.

In theory, I have to move offices in a month or so to some other spot. I have to say, the door is spoiling me, and I won't have one in my new location. Perhaps I can argue that having a door will save my hearing, since I don't have to blast music through my headphones to drown out neighboring noise. Plus Catherine supplied me with rich chocolates this week which are indeed keeping me going, along with my Thermos of Espresso.

How to make your Office look like my office (I would post a picture but I'm not allowed to do that):

• Suki Floor Lantern (I couldn't find my Target lamp online, but it only cost 30 bucks and looks like this one, but on a stand.)
• Anthro Desk. Mine is gray metal and yellow. Make sure to get the cup holder or else why bother?
• Figgy Table Lamp I don't have this, but now I want it.
• Ikea Rice Paper Table Lamp So Cheap!
• I don't know where to get my government-issue bookcase and chair...but fun modern versions are at bludot
• A rice paper lantern to hang off of the top shelf of my desk.
