bye bye mosquitoes!

So I don't know if I've blogged about this, but most likely I have - there are tons of mosquitoes around here this year. And dead birds, too. And despite my precautions, I have been bitten many times. But not tonight! I finally picked up some new insect repellent, Cutter Advanced. I should have bought it the second I read about it Consumer Reports.

There are two big things here:

1) it sprays on - so much more conveneint and faster than rubbing on gel and I don't have to get it all over my palms so i can still give Thor a belly rub, and

2) It isn't DEET. And not citronella either, which just doesn't stand up well enough. And both of them reek. Its this new chemical, picaridin, and seems to be odorless and it works really well, and I don't even notice I am wearing repellent. And I don't feel like taking a shower and washing it off the second i spray it on.

Most importantly, I managed to walk Thor through the mosquito-happy acequia tonight in my short shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt. Usually I wear jeans, long sleeve loose shirt, and still get bitten. But tonight I haven't been bitten once. Which is a record for me this year.

So if you haven't guessed, I highly recommend this product.
