chocolate tasting

Mon Jun 27 2005 14:52 MDT #

I just happen to have two types of dark chocolate with me today: Trader Joes Dark Swiss Chocolate (1.99 for over 1/2 lb), and half of a mini Starbucks chocolate, Ecuadorian Arriba Dark Chocolate (.55 for square the size of large postage stamp).

They taste completely different from each other. I don't know what the cacao contents are in each, but the Ecuadorian is bittersweet, and I think the Swiss is semisweet.

Dang this is hard - I'm trying to figure out what the heck I taste in the Ecuadorian chocolate. It is almost minty tasting, or almost cinnamon-ny.

The TJ's chocolate is what I think of as a more classic chocolate, though perhaps a tad too sweet - but that may just be because the other chocolate is so much less so.

Well, that's my first ever chocolate tasting. Looks like I need to work a little harder on finding the right adjectives to use. :-)
