iMac Hell

Sat Sep 3 2005 07:34 MDT #

So, I just got my iMac back after twomonths in the shop! I took it in June 30th, got it back yesterday Sept. 2. But not really of course. I go to pick it up, and they hand it to me. I say, "There are some HUGE scratches on the monitor." They look and nod their heads in agreement. But they cannot find any paperwork for me.

They promise they will replace the screen and say I can take it home in the menatime while they find my paperwork and order the parts.

I take it home. I plug it in.

The screen is actually broken. You know, things look horrific.

So now I am not sure if I should call Apple when they open in half and hour at 6am pacific time and battle them for a while. (Battle - because they will try and charge me 50 bucks to listen to me, then credit it me it when they realize i have a problem that is under warranty.)

I found my original paperwork (only damage note there - a scratch on the back of the case).

Baillios has just fucked everything up this whole time. They took 2 months to replace a POWER SUPPLY. They called me at some ponit telling me there was kernel panic. They replaced the motherboard. Who knows what else.

Now the screen is damaged - I so so wish I had bought Safeware insurance for the iMac. I am really glad I got it for my new laptop that I had to buy because of this long repair time. Safeware would consider the computer totaled at this point and refund me my purchase cost without any hassle.

Anyway, why should I trust Baillios to fix the monitor when they have so massively screwed everything else up? Also at this point why won't they just give me a new computer? Who knows what else they have damaged. I just want my hard drive and my memory shoved into a new iMac and be done with this mess. It is truly amazing that they are really an Apple Certified Repair shop. Sure looks like they are the Apple Certified Fuck-Up shop.
